   Okay but not impressed. If it was not for the weekly syncing issues that I have and the struggle I have getting a hold of support a lot of the time I would have given this a much higher score. I am considering going somewhere else because at this point it is getting really hard to use something that you pay for and it does not work half the time. with my issue I’m having currently it’s been two weeks in a row that I have had syncing issues and other issues on my account as of march 20, 2026. I am unable to use Notesnook to the fullest degree as a paying subscriber. Only able to do basic notes everything else will not work.

   Sketchy business. Developer chips away at a user’s existing features. I always used app lock to keep my Notesnook secure, I sign in one day and am told my app lock has been disabled and now requires payment. Existing users aren’t grandfathered in either. Bad way to do business.

   Icing out free users. I got this app specifically because it had markdown style shortcuts available in the free tier. It took me a lot of time to migrate everything, but I was happy with the user experience, and with the selection of what was available in the free tier. Unfortunately, NotesNook recently decided to remove their main feature for all free users: you now can no longer use markdown shortcuts in your notes. This makes it just like every other organized notes app, and is bad form baiting in users only to switch up what they can actually access.

   Support nonexistent; doesn't reply to emails; publicly replies to save face though.. Support ignores all emails, they reply publicly to save face when complaining about the lack of support but absolutely refuse to respond to emails.

   It crashes after I update to the latest version.. I updated the app to the latest version. Then it crashes every time I open it.

   Can’t recover account. If you ever forget your password, too bad. You literally have no way to reset it. I lost a ton of important information because of this. Absolutely ridiculous

   Doesn’t sync. Tried a subscription because I liked it via web, but the iOS app won’t reliably sync at all. Pity, otherwise it’s a good notes service.

   Features won’t work. New user. Fresh download. Over the course of three days I have made multiple attempts to verify my email address to sync data, and I never receive the confirmation link. I’ve also tried changing my email address, and I get a text message to verify the code, but there is nowhere on the app to enter it.

    Cant log back in. Made an account, changed my password and once i tried opening the app again it said i can only unlock it by using biometrics instead of my password. I don't have any biometrics activated on my iphone so im unable to get back into the app. Im a brand new user less than 10min into the app. Going to delete this and find a better one. I already imported stuff into the app and now i can't get back into it.

    How is this secure?. What is the point in me setting a password if you can just unlock the app still? Basically if the Face ID fails enough it prompts you to put in your phone passcode and it will unlock. I don’t see any settings to change this either. I really wanted this to not be able to be unlocked by anyone who knows my phone passcode.

    all my notes randomly disappeared. i even bought a premium version of the app for a while, but soon after i cancelled my subscription, all of my notes disappeared. they weren’t even in the trash section, they were completely wiped out. i’m lucky i didn’t use this app for anything important. i didn’t have this experience with notion or simplenote, or any of the bigger note apps. not to mention that the interface is pretty much just a knock-off from evernote, but executed way more poorly and confusingly. some apps are small for a reason, and i highly advise you to download any other notes app out there.

    Underwhelming and Disappointing. I’ve had Notesnook for a couple of weeks now, and half the time syncing and/or logging in straight up does not work. On iPad, sync was unavailable for 4+ days and when it finally returned, I haven’t been able to login for the past 2 days. On iPhone, sync supposedly works, though updates to my notes from the Mac app do not actually sync. This would be unacceptable for a free app; for a paid app this is inexcusable. This is a shame because the features align with my needs in a note-taking app. I am going to have to find another option because this service is too unreliable.

    Money hungry?. I have to pay to lock the app? That seems a bit ridiculous. Wasn’t not charging an arm and a leg part of your thing? What happened?

    Very good app, when it works. I used Notesnook (paid version) from mid-Jan 2023 to mid-Oct 2023. There were a lot of features I really liked (task manager, being able to publish a note for others to view, etc.) but I canceled my subscription because the reliability was not 100%. I lost notes, had issues with sync the entire time, and had issues with access on different devices at different times. That said, I love what the developers are creating and I really appreciate the E2E encryption (privacy is a huge consideration in what apps I use). I wasn't a huge fan of some of the organizational aspects, but overall I liked it a lot. If they could've made it more reliable during the 10 months I used it, I would've kept paying for it, but I got too frustrated and found something else. I know it's not an easy problem set and I'm sure the developers will figure it out eventually.

    Loved the idea, but. This is incredibly buggy. I have topics that double create themselves, notebooks that will not delete no matter how many times I try to delete them, I had syncing errors, and had difficulty even creating the account. I want to love this app bc of the awesome security, but it’s going to have to be a hard pass from me based on functionality. I kept trying but I’m way too busy and frustrated to continue battling this. Very disappointed.

    Good until…. The free app was perfect until they took away pin lock without paying. Another iPhone sad thing. Much prefer apps on android.

    Wanted to like but had to uninstall. Gave this app a fair shot and used this for over 6 weeks. Many great features but certain simple tasks such as trying to "select all" text by long-pressing inside a note would more often than not become a pain. Even trying to get the cursor ready to type within a blank note was unnecessarily difficult unless you pressed your finger directly on the top-left edge of a note. Just really simple things that one takes for granted in Apple Notes became an issue. But the final dealbreaker was when I went to PRINT a note... the print button was nowhere to be found... unacceptable. When trying to solve this, I became aware that the note must be exported to a PDF and then printed as a PDF elsewhere, quite mind-boggling really. It doesn't fit in with my workflow as I routinely need to print my iphone notes.

    Somewhat buggy. I had a pretty serious issue and it was handled quickly. I would delete this review but apple doesn’t allow that for some weird reason. Honestly I’m amazed apple is so popular considering all the (simple)things you can’t do on their platform.

    Confusing UX and broken tables (bug). Notesnook is awesome. My 2 gripes with it are follows: 1. Moving between menus gets confusing and you feel lost most of the time. The note view and notebook view has no special indication to show whether im in a list or in a note. The app needs significant indication where i am in the Ui so its much more quicker to navigate through. 2. This is likely a bug but table columns cant be resized. The columns can be highlighted when you tap but it cant be moved. Please fix it so i dont have to use my desktop for tables. Other than that, i pay for subscription, its worth it. The app syncs quick between all my devices and works flawlessly!

    Stops working out of the blue. Update: I had to delete history and cache to make it work again. My confidence in it is greatly shaken. —————— It worked for a few months but now it won’t keep any newly added words. Add a few lines, refresh the page, and the newly added lines vanish! No customer service whatsoever. Off to look for another encrypted notes app that actually works!

    Would use if I could change the font. This looks like it might be the most ideal private notes app, however I’m not a fan of the font used. If I could adjust the font (at least the font used in notes and ideally in the whole UI) then I would happily use it. Bear has that feature. Currently it looks too Microsoft-styled.

    Getting there. It delivers completely on privacy! But… I wish the app didn’t look like an android app. Many of these cross platform apps fail in design, and for some reason, always look like Google apps and not Apple apps. I don’t like that. The font and menus also don’t work well, very glitchy for example selecting all would select the top of the entire screen and go over the editor controls, with the font not respecting iOS default font size settings. A lot of things just are not made for iOS.

    Unfortunate. I do not like writing negative reviews. I have never taken the time to give a review like this before; however, I do do now in hope that this app’s makers will improve their features. I have just cancelled my “Pro” subscription BECAUSE the “view history” feature within the app has not worked for me, nor has the back up. Three times I have had notes - which have had hours of work stored on them - simply erased. Gone. The title of the note is still at the heading but all the notes are gone, and I have been entirely unable to retrieve them in full form, being offered the choice to restore to a previous “version” in which most of the note just erased is missing. There is no back key to undo some kind of “deleted all” error. The note is just gone. It has been a very frustrating experience, and I gave it another try - but this third time…I can’t keep taking that risk. Needed hours and needed notes are simply lost. Perhaps this is user error, but I think not. The notes do this without my touch. I could not find a way to contact anyone to ask about this trouble. The contact page was not clear. I don’t need a blog, social media, or to join a community forum to bounce ideas around, but a phone number or something perhaps? I liked the idea of what these makers are trying to do, offering secure note-taking avenues, but I have had had this happen three times in less than a month of using the “Pro” subscription. In closing, this review holds no malice, and I hope this simply alerts those who need to be made aware, those who can solve this issue for others, if others are having it. I will be returning to writing by hand, the surest anti-system error/fluke method which I know to be RELIABLE and secure.
