Horrible Meal Kits. I’ve tried for 3 weeks and each week at least 2-3 meals in my 4 meal plan were wrong They don’t send the orders you pick and ingredients are always missing

Worst meal subscription. Worst subscription box ever. Packaged raw meat on top of produce and meat leaked all over. Tried emailing twice with no response.

They send the cheapest food by default. If you don’t select what meals you want every week they will send the cheapest meals they can to you. The app knows what you enjoy already when you go to pick your meals but that isn’t factored into what they send by default at ALL. The food sent is based off of the 7 very general preferences and meat selection only. Not worth $75! It was originally $55 when I signed up. Just avoid this scam company.

Unprofessional, rude, scammers. Utterly disgusted. It made a second account without my knowledge and charged me twice for two separate boxes. One I never even authorized. And when I reached out to customer service they proceeded to yell at me and then refused to admit their wrongdoing and refused me a refund. Will NEVER use them ever again. Not to mention the constant missing ingredients, late packages, and my orders would consistently be changed back to the default meals that I did not choose

Bad all around. Three times my box came like it’s been through war, tape not securing the box properly holes and rips throughout the box. Absolutely ridiculous. I wish I can show you the videos.

BUY IF YOU WANT A MESS, INJURIES, AND THEFT!. I received a box from Dinnerly roughly a month ago, the food looked yummy but the ice pack inside was exploded!! When I opened the box i saw EVERY piece of food was ruined. The sludge also covered my entire kitchen floor and burned my hands and toes from the cold. I’ve put in multiple customer care requests (with pictures!) and haven’t been contacted yet! and this was at-least a month ago!! I usually don’t leave negative reviews but I spent around $80 to deal with a huge mess and suffer a minor injury. I work hard for my money and it’s ridiculous to have it wasted. Huge waste of time, money, and energy. PLEASE refund me this is ridiculous!! And btw I had to go hungry that week because I spent all my money on this ridiculous box. PLEASE give me a refund!!!!!

Terrible customer service. Have made mistakes the last few boxes. Started small missing item here and there then a damaged package. Now a whole box just didn’t get delivered and they can’t do anything until a manager can talk to me and that could be in up to 24 hours. This is my food. Not just a shopping item. What should I eat since this is my grocery?

Tried to give it a shot. Decided to give it a shot as the website and app seemed promising. Very first delivery arrived on time. But was missing 3/4 of what was supposed to be in there. One entire recipe was missing and the other two were incomplete. Customer service was prompt and issued me a refund for the cost of the box. Cancelled immediately after.

Terrible. Box came 3 days late (they use the worst delivery service known to man, on-trac), vegetables were bruised and damaged, and something sticky leaked all over everything. Had to throw the whole box out. Highly disappointed, only good thing about them is they gave me a refund. Cancelled my subscription after my first and only box, stay away they’re cheap for a reason.

Don’t do it!!. I tried two boxes (only because I didn’t cancel the second in time). It looks like normal food, but idk what this is. The food tastes like plastic, and is completely inedible in texture. Literally couldn’t cut or chew any of the meats no matter how they were cooked. My mom and I ended up throwing each meal away after chewing endlessly and spitting it out. Then their customer service told me I couldn’t get any money back, despite all the meals being inedible. Beyond upset and never again will I order their food.

Super great. Love the food. It’s amazing. I went from zero cooking to six nights a week. I’ve been able to go mostly vegetarian for dinner (which was a goal) because they offer the best options for both vegetarian and vegan meals. Instructions are good. Food quality is great. And communication from them if there ever is ever a substitute or problem is great. If it’s not a fixable problem issuing a credit was easy and I actually spent more on a box because I basically got it for free so added like 80 more dollars of food. But their choice of a shipping partner is a huge letdown. In my area it’s FedEx. And FedEx messed up a months worth in a row of deliveries. FedEx didn’t care about anything. I’ve now missed another delivery and it’s just annoying at this point. FedEx will make me decide to cancel before anything else about their service would. Dinnerly sorta didn’t care too deeply about the amount of times it has happened. Felt more like a routine problem to them it seemed. Great stuff but sometimes you’re not gonna get it

Be aware of their website changing your selected weeks you canceled. Moneys been tight for over a year. I prob should have just canceled, but I kept hoping things would turn around and start getting deliveries again. When you decline the 4 or 5 available orders and say they aren’t in my budget this week as a reason, around 2.5 to 3 weeks in it will switch your choice to ship it and the weeks after. I have caught it on Thursdays and it will let me switch it back. But if it’s on a Friday it will say I can’t cancel even though it doesn’t ship out till Monday or Tuesday. I keep the account on a card that won’t go thru so it ends up not shipping for no payment. Couple months ago after it got denied because I have no funds on my account, after I said it’s not in my budget, they decide to send me the meals C.O.D. Which I didn’t know they did that. So now they send me to collections because of their glitch even though there’s a year of me saying I can’t afford this right now. Thanks dinnerly.

Bad update for iPad. The latest version only works in portrait mode. Very bad design choice for an iPad app.

So very disappointed!. I had a subscription for over a year. At first everything was wonderful! I really enjoyed the meals and trying new foods! Then I started getting a few bad produce items or an item would be missing. I didn’t think it was a big deal at first. It was easy enough to report the issue and get a credit for my next delivery. However then the boxes started coming with the ice packs punctured and leaking all over everything. Even the bottom of the box would be soggy when it got to me. I had to rinse everything off to be able to use anything. I didn’t feel safe consuming whatever gel like substance was used in their cold packs. I also got boxes where all the produce was bad, and it just seemed like there was always a problem. Then my last 2 boxes were the last straw for me. I got a message that my box was delayed by a day. When I received it, all the food was warm and completely unusable. I tried to contact support and they only gave me a partial credit, again on my next delivery. The next box I received was even worse! It was delayed as well, but It seems like the ice packs leaked again and the box broke. FedEx had to repackage the box. Again everything was warm and unusable, but this time everything was also completely crushed and just a general mess! At this point I knew that I couldn’t continue to go around in circles with them. I was just going to have to accept the loss and stop the cycle (since they only give credits for future orders). I just canceled my subscription. I would tell anyone thinking of trying this service to think twice! There are a lot of options for meal kits out there and, at this time, this is not a good one!

DO NOT order from this site!. I had to set up an account before I could even look at the recipes. During the set up they ask the general questions of how many meals and when do you want your first box. I set my first box for over 3 weeks away. Before I could even browse the recipes I got a notice from PayPal that I had already been charged for the first box…….I still hadn’t pick any meals! After browsing the meals I realized that my dietary restrictions meant that I couldn’t eat any of it so I quickly cancelled BUT they refused to refund the money they just charged me ( literally 8 minutes earlier) because they “were already preparing my box”. If, as they claim their recipes offer fresh ingredients then how can they already be preparing my box that’s not supposed to ship for 3 weeks. The company that owns Dinnerly is in the middle of a lawsuit and I’m not surprised if this is any indication of their business model. Thank goodness for PayPal! They stepped in and are in the process of getting this issue resolved and my money back.

Terrible meals. Bad customer service as I still have not heard back from both of my emails I sent last week. But never mind the service, the meals were god awful. Flavorless mashed potatoes, nasty shrimp coated in wet flour, just bad all around.

Extremely poor customer service. My first order from dinnerly has STILL not arrived, even though the package tracking says it was delivered 4 days ago. It was not, my partner was even home when they said they delivered it. I have filed 3 complaints now, one 4 days ago, and the others since then, and heard nothing back from anyone. Thats the only reason i keep filing complaints! I cant afford for them to be stealing my money, i cant afford groceries otherwise anyway. But i guess i will have to spend more money on a different meal kit service since its still cheaper than buying groceries and clearly my box isnt coming, and i assume my next box probably won’t either but even if it does im probably done with dinnerly for good.

Don't do it! Terrible customer service. I tried this out for 3 months and I was really hoping it would be a time saver for busy people. I'm the beginning, all the boxes were delivered on time, but many were missing items and/or food bags were punctured and marinara or spice packs were covering everything inside. When you try to contact customer service, you never get anywhere. In the latest incident, I received a notice telling me my box was going to be a day late. It never arrived. I told customer service I needed a replacement box or a refund. I have yet to hear anything back, aside from them asking me to refer friends or rate the app, so here I am. Do not bother with this company, not worth it!!!!

Do not subscribe.. The first box I ever got had a recipe that was steak and scalloped potatoes. Tell me why the steak is the size of a kid’s hand?? are two grown adults supposed to eat a small bite of beef as a whole dinner? The portions are too small for grown adults and the ingredients arent fresh. The potatoes had deep rotten parts that took away from the actual part I could use. Unsubscribed after the first box only! U will go hungry if you get Dinnerly boxes for dinner

Eh. I wanted to like it, 1 out of 6 months has come on time and not spoiled. Rather than crediting back the cost of the box they give $10 credit unless you call and spend 30+ min on the phone. Meat is opened and spoiled getting all over the produce, plastic in the seasoning, 3+ days late….the cost after the promo period has more than doubled.

Blank screens can’t finish recipe. I hate this app. It’s constantly showing completely white blank screens for the recipes. How are you going to only provide an app with no printed or online recipe cards and then have the app not show the recipes?!?! How can anyone make your dishes and meals when they can’t see the recipe?

Not worth the hassle. I was waffling between 2 and 1 star for a while but decided that the few pros of Dinnerly don’t make up for its major shortcomings and serious problems. Pros: 1. Relatively decent recipe variation. This is a recent change I’ve noticed in the past couple of weeks. For a while I was basically getting variations on steak with potatoes and chicken with pasta. I’ve had some really cool and new meals I probably wouldn’t have made myself the past couple of boxes however. Side note: before the cutoff point I go through the offered meals and choose the ones that sound good to me. Most of the time I end up taking 2-3 of their recommended meals out of my box and choose new ones. (I sat for a good 5 minutes trying to think of another pro. I couldn’t.) Cons: 1. I’ve had numerous boxes just not ever show up. Their distribution company where I’m located (AxelHire) has terrible service, a bad website, and no easy way to even tell if your box is on its way. Not to mention the phone tag you have to play between AxelHire and Dinnerly trying to figure out where your box is. For example, I received a notification that a delivery had failed. An hour later, I had finally figured out that, no, it hadn’t failed, it had never even been attempted since they damaged the box so bad they decided it couldn’t be delivered (which also, shouldn’t that be my decision?). It’s annoying sitting at home once a week wondering if I’m going to even get a box. 2. Dinnerly is more than happy to credit you for a missing box. However, I can’t believe they don’t have any statistics on how often boxes don’t get delivered and prepare that many extra boxes. All you’ll get is a weak apology and a credit, and if you ask about getting a replacement box they’ll just tell you that you could, but due to sourcing issues you wouldn’t be receiving it until the day before your next delivery. I can’t believe they wouldn’t just prepare a number of extra boxes or meals and have them ready to go out the next day if boxes aren’t delivered. 3. Just about every single box I’ve received either is missing an ingredient (although thankfully it’s unlikely it’s the main component of the dish. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been missing spice packets though) or something in the box itself is in rough enough shape that it’s probably not safe to eat. I’ve had so many meat packages leaking into the box covering everything else with its juices. Cucumbers split in half, spinach crushed so badly it’s bruised and completely wilted, honey packets popped, mayo packets popped, basil pesto packets popped, the list goes on. I don’t even bother contacting them at this point. It’s not worth the hassle of spending 10-15 minutes on the phone for the $2 credit. 4. Stuff spoils SO fast. I’ve taken to freezing all the meat I won’t use in the two days after I get a box. How can sealed packages of chicken go bad so fast?? Not to mention the short shelf life of the veggies they send. It’s hard having to keep track of which meals I have to eat first/earlier in the week because I know the veggies won’t last 6 days in the fridge. Or I just have to resign myself to the fact I just won’t be able to include veggies in the last meal or two of the week. 5. I still have to shop to make most of the meals. It’s really annoying to still have to go shopping when the whole point of this is to not shop. I’m not talking about basic staples like salt, pepper, and oil, but stuff like garlic or milk or butter. I drink non-dairy milk by choice and not out of necessity; the recipes that require milk can’t (or shouldn’t) use non dairy milk as a substitute. How expensive would it be to throw in a little carton of milk and two or three cloves of garlic? Sometimes I can’t help but to find it funny when they send a meal and provide 5 ingredients and the “You’ll need:” section is two times that length. 6. The app doesn’t really function very well. I’ll have to force close the app two or three times the day of my delivery for it to load the new recipes, and even then, when I go to cook them the instructions won’t load. 7. Portion sizes are almost ridiculously small. I order the 2 portion boxes and I don’t think I’ve ever not finished both portions. For instance, 5oz of rice is the size they send which is about 2/3 a cup (1 cup of rice is ~7oz, little less). 10oz is the typical meat size. It’s supposed to be split in half, so the majority of some meals is 1/3 cup rice and 5oz meat plus a couple veggies (maybe). There’s a reason that when I was sharing this with a roommate we almost always had two dinners a night. In conclusion, Dinnerly is a stressful and annoying hassle. I sit and wonder if I’m even going to get a box, and even if I do, I still end up having to shop for some things they’re too cheap to throw in the box. The ingredients they provide are hit or miss, and the meals are pretty light on ingredients and portions in general. If my delivery doesn’t show up, it never will and I’ll have to go shopping for even more food. Most of the weeks I consider eating 2 Dinnerly meals a day just to get my money’s worth due to how fast stuff spoils. It’s all around a big hassle and really really not worth the small bit of money you save over other meal boxes. I’ve given up after only 8 or 9 months and somewhere between 9-12 boxes never showing up and countless unused or unusable ingredients. This past week was the final straw as I had to trash three meals worth of veggies and still seemingly ate something spoiled just to have my next delivery fail completely. Overall bad experience, bad quality, bad customer service, and bad time all around. Not worth the hassle for a few bucks saved. Go spend your money on some service that will actually be reliable and worth it. 0/10

Yuck. I usually don’t write reviews but this company has ripped me off too many times They used to be ok which is why I kept coming back to try it again…but now it’s just awful. A lot of the Food is rotten by the time it arrives, (pretty sure it’s rotten before it’s even packed) (and by rotten I mean VISIBLE MOLD) and it’s always missing at least one item. They put sauces in bags that ALWAYS explode onto everything else… ruining not only the exploded ingredient, but also most of the unwrapped food items it’s near. I’ve complained about this as I am sure others have…yet they still choose to send in cheap or no packaging. I guess it’s just easier for them to give a “credit” to people vs. investing in proper packaging. I’ve ordered at least 15 boxes from them so they definitely had a chance to make things right over time. I’ve now sent them a complaint for most of those boxes… And by the way…a “credit” isn’t helpful when the entire point of the box is to not have to go shopping for ingredients. The recipes are ok…for the most part, but there are many that seem off (like adding extra steps or preheating an oven when the entire dish can be made on the range…) and some that are just super weird. Like “hmm we need it to look healthy so let’s just add some random peas to this pasta dish that doesn’t call for it) They also pick and choose which recipes are scratch (sending dough) and not (sending pre baked bread that is in a wet bag and gets moldy if you don’t use it the first day) Plus they have many recipes that are not sent complete. I understand that sending eggs would not be safe or easy…but you don’t reduce the price of the recipe when I have to go buy more which again defeats the purpose of your service There’s honestly just so many issues that I can’t pick just one reason to leave this service. Reading other reviews I can see that every one of the issues I have mentioned is a common issue with them that they simply ignore. Don’t let them fool you. It does not get better.

Never got a single delivery. Never got my money back. UPDATE: the developer just wrote a comment so I feel the need to respond. The company responded here to my review, almost nine months after my bad experience, to say feel free to talk to customer service. Clearly they didn’t even read my first review saying how I already dealt with their customer service and it was useless. Their response to my negative review and the fact that they wrote it almost nine months after my bad experience to say something totally useless confirms I am right to never deal with this company again. ORIGINAL REVIEW: DO NOT BUY FROM THEM Friends in another state love them. We ordered six times in six weeks. Every time the box delivered 16-25 days late and completely rotten (meat in every box). We live in a city of over four million people so location shouldn’t be an issue. Every time they said it was between me and their logistics company (GSL). After the first three weeks they would issue me a credit in their system for a future order. I kept explaining what does that matter if it never delivers where I can use it. They refuse to offer any other delivery company. Finally gave up and cancelled. Reported them and GSL to the BbB and the state AG office. Absolutely wish I hadn’t given them a dime.

Apparently I’m not a wanted customer. Both the website and the app did not allow me to sign up but still managed to charge me a weekly fee (they claim it’s just a hold at the moment…). I really wanted to try the service as I’ve heard so much good about it, but apparently I’m not a wanted customer. Guess what I’ll try a different service

Wooow. I signed my family up for the “family plan” thinking it would be a decent amount of food for my family of 4. Wrong. They sent me 2 “10 ounce” chicken breasts for the entire meal. 2 small chicken breasts. Which is literally enough to feed my husband and I. What about the kids???? How on earth do you call this a meal for a family of 4?? 2 chicken breasts for 1 meal that’s supposed to feed 4 normal sized humans. Wow. Second- my produce was covered in bloody juices from the meat. The meat needs to be at least put in a separate bag in the box to avoid a mess like this. Extremely sloppy, and the family plan comes with enough food to feed a large man or a normal sized couple. I’m so disappointed honestly. I had this meal service a few years ago and it was not like this.
