   Great Tool for Speech Practice. Lots of language tools offer vocabulary, grammar, and the like. However, few offer great speech practice. Mondly delivers with a tool that mimics your live French instructor. It lets you know what’s mispronounced, what was actually said/pronounced, and guides you on how to say it correctly. Very valuable. My speaking abilities have improved. Mondly is a great addition to your language learning. Compared to Duolingo: The AI is much better. Duo’s mis-hears A LOT. Also, Mondly’s corrects you as you speak, as opposed to reviewing the lesson after. I still love Duo because I get a lot of auditory practice. But I like Mondly more for speech work

   Terrible voice recognition and constant freezing. The concept and intent of this app is good, but in terms of real world functionality it’s not in a lot of ways. Who actually reviews vocab from a list!?

   I thought Duolingo was bad, but Mondly is worse.. The taught phrases are not useful. The speaking challenges don’t work if there is a number within the sentence (it’ll change uno to 1 and mark as incorrect). The patterns become predictable so you’re just solving patterns instead of learning language.

   Boring. I bought a lifetime subscription and I wish I hadn’t. It teaches language in such a strange way. I can’t retain anything I learn. It doesn’t remember what you have trouble with and reinforce it. It is not worth the $200 I paid for it and now I’m stuck with it..

   Hands-free hangs all the time.. The hands-free spoken part of the app often hangs when I forget a word, or am too slow to repeat a long phrase. Since this part is required to get past a lesson, I get stuck for days at a time. Not conducive to learning at all

   Not a real free trial. I was charged immediately.. I tried the free trial and was charged immediately without clear notice. That’s not what most people expect from a ‘free trial.’ The app itself might be fine, but the billing setup feels misleading and left a bad first impression. Be careful before entering payment info.

    A free trial…. …should not come with a mandatory sign-up. Let folks try one lesson, then decide. Mondly wants me to sign-up first. I’ve had trouble with canceling “free trials” in the past. So unfortunately, no thanks.

    Inadequate Translations and Fluency Level Appropiation. After clicking advanced, the app is still continuing to try and teach me how to say basic introductions and vocabulary. And Привет does not mean Hello.

    Try something else. I thought I liked this app and I used it for about a week. I was using this specifically for the hands free. And every time I get half way through the lesson, it starts to act like it doesn’t hear me. And it says “skip for now?” And hears me say “no.” It will continue the lesson and then if I get an answer wrong it disconnects and makes the WORST “you’re connection is low noise” I go so scared the first time I heard it lol

    Extremely difficult to cancel. I wanted this for my kids to learn a new language. A lot of websites said they have a “family” option, but the website was very difficult to find any information about this. I went ahead a got a premium subscription, only to immediately be told I could add other users for 3x 4x what had already paid. Then it was extremely difficult to cancel my subscription and end auto renewal - I had to navigate multiple layers of a website I could only even access by getting a link emailed to me several times. It’s deliberately extremely difficult to cancel. This whole app feels like a scam. Avoid like the plague.

    A nightmare to cancel. I wanted to cancel the subscription and it was honestly a nightmare, you can’t do it from the app, you are redirected to another website and it just kept getting worse, I then tried to cancel it and it didn’t even give me the option. Still fighting to get this cancelled ASAP.

    Impossible to get any useful information. I’ve been charged for Mondly. The charge is on my credit card statement. But I’ve spent too much time trying to figure out my basic account information. When I try using the app, it just keeps asking for more money! Thus far for me it’s not only useless but a useless and costly hassle.

    liked the app until they started using ai for image generation. i genuinely wish i could stop having to find out that companies that i really believed in, and stood behind have opted to go to AI for assets, or employee replacements. AI is killing the planet, and i really wish that you’d just use stock photos > ai slop. the sentences are okay, less clunky than duolingo for sure

    Price. Mondly could absolutely be a good supplement or introduction to a language. The only thing holding it back is how they only give you access to one language for the monthly subscription rate. If you want access to all languages, you have to lock in at a much higher rate for a much longer time which may not be affordable for a lot of people. I wouldn’t mind paying $15 each month if they’d allow it to have access to all languages.

    Bad methods and inconsistent technology. I have 3 core problems: 1. Voice recording and recognition for pronunciation practice is bad. I frequently can’t get it to record something even close to what I said. Also, the desktop browser app won’t even recognize my mic. 2. It’s fine for words and short phrases, but for any longer phrases with more complex sentence structure or verb conjugations, it does nothing to explain these differences. I don’t know what the grammar is. I can’t easily match up words to words so I know the individual words in the phrase instead of just the whole thing verbatim, which isn’t effective at helping me remember. And if the verb it uses is a different form or conjugation from what it has taught or has in the reference, it does not explain this at all. So I frequently can’t even identify the verb in the sentence and I don’t know why it’s different or when to use it. 3. This lack of explanation is made into a bigger problem because the exercises and tests are super easy and built in a way that doesn’t require you remember things or understand anything to pass them. For example: You are given 2 words with pictures of what they are and a word in English to match to one of the two other words… which you have pictures for, so you don’t even need to know the word. Another example: An exercise where you are given a phrase to translate and either a set of answer phrases or a collection of words to create the sentence. Except that there will be so few answers and the wrong answers will have something obviously, structurally wrong with them that lets you eliminate them without thinking about it. For example you’re given a question but only one answer is a question. Or a phrase with capitalization and only one phrase has a capital. So I find myself completing these only to realize that I don’t actually remember what I “learned.” I’m glad that I was diligent about trying the app deep enough into the lessons before the trial had ended. If I had only done the first few lessons I might not have realized just how useless this is.

    Liars - no European Portuguese. If you’re looking for European Portuguese do not buy this app. The website advertises it and says they have it, but it is not available in the app.
