   Too many issues with the Sync. Disappointed by the Sync’ing with the Desktop version. I spent too much time trying to fix it. It worked for a while… until it did not anymore ! So, not worth it on my side. Don’t mix Desktop and IPad versions.

   Total trash for iPad. Paid 20$ dollars the app is unusable on iPad I.e. , missing a ton of core features I.e templates and other useful features for making tables etc. your license doesn’t link up with pc so you’d have to buy it and you can’t easily import documents via the app it self you have to copy paste what it’ll allow you too that combined within its difficult curve of learning makes it A-Tier GARBAGE FOR IPAD SPECIFICALLY.

   Great app 2 years ago. This app has been forgotten and not updated for 2 years. There has been no updates to take advantage of iOS 26. In fact, I can’t even change the font size. When I try the menu for font size crashes. It is sad they let it go. I guess they are no longer interested.

   Trash. Let me start by saying I absolutely LOVE Scrivener…on my laptop. Whatever this is…it ain’t Scrivener. Looks and behaves nothing like the windows/Mac version…NOTHING. I absolutely hate it and you will too. The fact that they’re charging for this bogus attempt is what pushed me over the edge. I asked for my money back, but they, of course, refused. I honestly think a third party could make a much better application for them…this is AWFUL. It’s practically unusable. Listen to me…if you love Scrivener on your computer, YOU WILL HATE THIS. Don’t buy it…no matter what other reviews say. It sucks. And developers…you should be ashamed of yourselves. Pull this garbage and put a real app out.

   Syncing Issues Make the iOS App Hard to Trust. I really wanted to like this app, but the syncing issues make it unreliable for real work. The entire purpose of having Scrivener on iPad is to continue writing when you’re away from your Mac. Unfortunately, that simply doesn’t work consistently. Projects that open perfectly fine on the Mac show up as “invalid project” on iPad, even when the binder file exists and Dropbox reports everything fully synced. I followed every troubleshooting step provided by support: clearing the sync cache, reinstalling the app, verifying the binder file, closing projects before syncing, testing new projects, and confirming that all files were available offline. The problem still persists across multiple projects and multiple iPads. The most concerning part is that the iOS app has not been meaningfully updated in years. Meanwhile, Dropbox, macOS, and iPadOS continue to evolve. When a core feature like syncing becomes unreliable, the app stops being practical for writers who need to move between devices. Scrivener itself is powerful software on Mac. But if you are buying the iOS version expecting a seamless writing workflow between your Mac and iPad, you should know that syncing problems are still very real. Until the iOS version receives active development and reliable syncing, it’s difficult to recommend.

   Syncing errors are horrible. Hundreds of hours work lost because this app can't keep track of changes not matter how careful you are. Just use word pad!

    Abandonware. I hate to lower the star average on this otherwise wonderful author-oriented text editing iPad app, however since iPadOS 26 debuted last fall, the app has suffered from issues with Find (⌘F). I noted them first in beta, and I posted to the forums. Now, with 26.2 out for weeks (I am using the release version of iPadOS, now), still no bug fix update issued. Using Find often but intermittently causes the find window to show then hide itself. If it does show, using it a few times can lock up the app until it quits and restarts. It appears to be related to the Windowed Apps feature, but it happens even with the feature turned off. Lit & Latte has updated the Mac version repeatedly, but why not the iOS/iPadOS version? It feels like they've abandoned it. Think about it, what kind of revision can you do without search and search and replace working? I am using the M5 iPad Pro 13", but it failed on my earlier iPad, too. I do not recommend buying the app for sole iPad use, nor if you need to use it for syncing between Apple platforms. The Mac version has no issues. I will revise this review once the issue is fixed.

    Frustrating bug. I just downloaded the app and began writing only to immediately encounter a weird bug where if I highlight a piece of text and hit the format button (the paint brush), the options appear for a second but quickly disappear like it crashed or something along those lines. Sometimes the options above the keyboard don't even show up until I change from portrait to landscape or vice versa. This goes for all the buttons on that pop menu. Extremely frustrating.

    Trash app, hard to use and syncing is awful. Forced to sync over Dropbox? No thanks. I’d rather use Obsidian or just Apple Pages. The UI looks and feels like it was built 20 years ago. Desperately needs an overhaul and more syncing options!

    Unusable after many, many years.. I’ve been a Scrivener user for a very long time, back when the first round came out. Trust me when I say this app is practically unusable at this point. I can’t type, change fonts, open files. It’s very frustrating considering the price point. If you’re going to charge for this app, it NEEDS to be updated. Otherwise it’s practically robbery.

    Rarely Updated. Update: I wrote this years ago and the issue of losing content or errors (even when fully synced) still exists. Good software companies should update their software at least a few times a year to both squash bugs and add new features. It’s ridiculous this hasn’t been updated in years. The biggest issue is that the software is rarely updated, which means bugs linger indefinitely. I’ve stopped writing in it daily because sync problems between the desktop and cloud inevitably cause errors. I’ve lost entire chapters. Now, I only use it to store the most recent version of my work, since relying on it for everyday writing leads to constant conflicts I can’t afford to deal with. Some sycophants claim the software doesn’t need frequent updates, but that’s simply not true. All software has bugs, and they need to be fixed regularly. This program hasn’t been updated in over a year, and in the past, it’s gone several years without a single update. For one of the most popular writing tools outside of traditional word processors, the lack of care from the developers is unacceptable.

    Syncing does not work. I am angry to have paid for both the desktop and iOS version, and it turns out that syncing with dropbox just doesn’t function. The iOs app won’t add the latest version of the file, so I can only updated either my computer or the app. I assumed that since the app costs so much that it would be made functional and easy to use. I wish I hadn’t bothered trying these programs, because I’m no better off now than when I was just using a regular word processing program

    $23 for this?. I just started using Scrivener for Mac and naïvely assumed there would be easy cross platform syncing. My files are already in iCloud Drive and I already access then from several computers seamlessly. Why can’t I open these files in this app? The files are already on my iPad and I can open them, but this app doesn’t save to the same location. Additionally, many of the resources I have saved to my project did not carry over to iPad. I’m just going to delete this app and ask for a refund. It feels sorely outdated compared to Scrivener for Mac.

    If your already a Scrivener user, don’t expect this to be usable. I have several manuscripts I’ve been working on over the past couple years and I was hoping to move those projects to be able to work on them on my new tablet. Well… Scrivener for iPad is no substitute. The only sync support is for Dropbox, and there doesn’t appear to be any means to add external files. Anyhow, I’m just really disappointed.

    The “privacy” is a lie, unless you only use 1 device. What they don’t make clear is that you MUST use Dropbox if you want to work on your stuff on multiple devices. And, well, lookie there; Dropbox collects data, including “other”, which isn’t really defined. I’m going to try for a refund. I know google scrapes my data but least I didn’t pay for the privilege.

    iOS version is a nightmare to sync with Dropbox. There are so precious few options on the iOS version of Scrivener, that good luck to you trying to sync this with Dropbox. They have made it extremely convoluted, yet put very few controls within the app. If you add a new project to Scrivener, i.e., let’s say you start a Blog project separate from your Novel, Scrivener/Dropbox (which I hate even MORE) will not recognize it. I had to re-upload everything to Dropbox because it was not updating & it shows it refreshed & iOS Scrivener will still not recognize it. Works well if you can get them syncing, but that part is a nightmare. I am tech savvy & don’t have issues anywhere but here. Very unintuitive & super CLUNKY.

    Stopped Syncing Last Year. The app stopped syncing with dropbox last year, but gave me no warning within the app that this had happened and every time I clicked the sink button, it would tell me that the dropbox is synced with the application on my device. Finally went to investigate the Dropbox when I tried to access the files on my desktop only to find that they hadn’t been syncing since last year. Not a Dropbox error, I contacted their support.

    Tutorial!. Directions for horizontal orientation iPad are completely broken. For example, there is no entry on the left side bar with the label “the binder“. And I’m too frustrated to check further issues if that’s the only error then fine, but it’s extremely maddening when they tell you to press a button that doesn’t exist.

    Completely unusable. So sad this app cannot be used for screenwriting. It doesn’t give any option to change the font size, but if you zoom in it makes the font have only one letter per line. Deleted immediately. Very disappointing that they charge so much for a completely nonfunctional app.

    Please build more secure online mobile editing support. I'm disappointed to see how unavailable mobile editing is. I don't use dropbox because they do not allow explicit opt out of AI training. This is a huge security flaw for me to feel comfortable using dropbox to host my scrivener manuscripts.
