Astrology

Astrology wins not on prediction but on ritual and voice. Of 100 apps, all seven scoring above 80 share one thing: a living, recognizable author or a learning system that builds a daily habit.

Apps betting on sign coverage, AI generation, or a reader marketplace occupy the bottom third of the sample, where 43 of 100 are either inflated or questionable by rating.

The market is saturated with cheap content and trust in it is broken: a user who once got a vague 'forecast for everyone' stops paying for forecasts, but keeps paying for a person they trust. The winner is whoever builds that bond.

Money
Who pays in this niche, for what, and why most players lose money. It opens together with the ideas. Unlock

Nearly every major player makes the same mistake: scaling content instead of voice. Co-Star replaced deep natal interpretations with AI junk and lost its audience over two years. and switched to generation and got reviews saying 'the texts repeat, I feel cheated.' Susan Miller automates nothing, but never solved basic delivery logistics, and every month hands readers to competitors during the first eight days. The template is the same everywhere: the company saves on authorship and loses on retention.

Audience

"Astrology" is not one customer. Inside are different people with different jobs, and they pay very differently. First you choose who you build for.

Who won't pay

These audiences use the apps but rarely pay. Don't build a business on them.

Where users come from

Channels visible right in the reviews: people say themselves how they found the app and why they installed it. This is the niche's distribution.

Word of mouth: friends and acquaintances7

Astrology gets passed from hand to hand: a friend showed it, a girlfriend suggested checking compatibility. A product with shared charts and couple comparison naturally nudges people to invite their own, Co-Star and The Pattern have it built into the mechanics.

A friend briefly mentioned "The Pattern" & showed me the thumbnail. it piqued my interest though I did not initially know it was astrology based.

The Pattern: Astrology

I downloaded this because a friend recommended it, I didnt realize it was entirely Ai and I'm removing it because of that.

Co–Star Personalized Astrology
Influencers and tiktok5

Spiritual bloggers on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram push specific apps at scale, and people install them on direct tips. But the channel is already burnt: half the reviews accuse influencers of being paid shills and the app of botched calculations.

I haven't used the app yet, but its recommended highly by all my favorite spiritual creators on YT, TT, FB, INSTA. So I'm super excited to check it out!!

Astra - Life Advice

I downloaded this app by recommendation from tiktok and it cannot even calculate my birth chart correctly even after 5 tries.

App store search for the job3

Part of the audience searches deliberately: tracking moon cycles, learning astrology, replacing an app they got tired of. The queries are narrow, and the learning niche looks underserved, one person complains outright that there's nothing here to learn astrology from.

I was looking for an app to help me to be more aware of the celestial cycles. Moonly is a great app for that purpose.

Moonly: Moon Phases & Calendar

It's not the astrology app to learn astrology from which was what I was looking for.

Moonly: Moon Phases & Calendar
Ads on youtube and facebook2

The aggressive ad buying in this niche comes from fortune-telling services like Kasamba, and both complaints seethe with irritation: the ads stalk people and prey on emotions. For an honest product this is more of a cautionary tale than a channel.

Most annoying desperate app ever!! Every ad on YouTube I get is for this app and I block it every single time.

Labyrinthos Tarot Reading4.9 in store · genuine · 22,464 ratings88our scoreThe best tarot learning app: lessons, quizzes, a reading journal, built with soul by a solo developer.
Strong

Lessons, quizzes, and a journal: a rare mix of study and hands-on practice.

Weak

The Crowley AI readings feel out of place. Some settings get lost after updates.

For whom

Beginners and practitioners who want to learn.

CHANI: Your Astrology Guide4.9 in store · genuine · 54,941 ratings82our scoreA rare case: serious, authored astrological content that people listen to on Sundays like a meditation. The depth, consistency, and genuine teaching about transits stand out.
Strong

Chani's weekly audio readings, dense literary text. Courses on houses and transits.

Weak

A controversial new UI. Some users are put off by the political framing in weekly forecasts.

For whom

Serious astrology enthusiasts who want to learn, not just read a daily blurb.

Time Nomad Astrology Charts4.8 in store · genuine · 2,717 ratings82our scoreThe best technical tool for serious astrologers: a transit timeline with a visual graph, progressions, fixed stars, planetary hours, configurable aspects, all for one-time purchases. The developer replies to emails.
Strong

A transit timeline with a visual graph, a unique feature not found in any other mobile app.

Weak

Nearly impenetrable for beginners: no interpretations, only raw data and astrological terms without explanation. Some aspects near exact orb occasionally fail to display.

For whom

Practicing astrologers and serious students studying technique.

Tarot!4.9 in store · genuine · 1,611 ratings82our scoreThe reference tarot app built on the Rider-Waite deck: three built-in books, dozens of spreads, no gamification. A tool for serious study and daily practice.
Strong

Three complete tarot books inside the app, thorough meanings for all 78 cards. Rare depth for a mobile tool.

Weak

Hasn't been updated in a long time: the journal consistently crashes on newer iPhones, and the interface isn't adapted for modern screens.

For whom

Practicing tarot readers and students studying the classic Rider-Waite deck.

Fool’s Dog Tarot & Divination4.7 in store · genuine · 638 ratings82our scoreA reference tool for serious practice: dozens of decks from different traditions, flexible spreads, a journal. Professional readers use the app in live readings.
Strong

Access to decks from various traditions, including rare editions. Spreads replicate a real ritual, the journal lets you record personal meanings. A level of depth unavailable in competing apps.

Weak

Development has stalled: navigation inside a spread is broken. After viewing a card's meaning, the back button exits the entire spread instead of returning to the card.

For whom

Practicing tarot enthusiasts who need a broad deck collection in one place.
