Lost all my recipes. I have lost all my recipes after the launch/reboot issue the app just had. I have been storing these for years and now some of our family favorite recipes are gone. This is the worst app ever!

  2. ★★★★crashes, freezes and errors

stopped working. After 2 days and maybe 5 recipes added it just stopped working - would not open and said “no internet” which was not accurate. This app is garbage. Don’t waste your time.

  3. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Overpriced and over hyped. The scanning function is pretty inaccurate, I have had much better luck with Recipe Bro (free). There are ads in the suggested recipes feed, if I want that I will go to Pinterest. And they seem to think we want to pay for a social media experience, no thanks. The basic plan does not offer support, why would I pay for an app with no support? Update regarding the developer’s response: I stand by my review re scanning accuracy and support. I have currently scanned over 100 recipes with Recipe Bro and have never had to edit even one, and this even includes handwritten recipes from old recipe cards. For recipes with handwritten notes, it scans the note along with the recipe. Their AI scanning technology is phenomenal. The developer of Cook’n needs to check his competition before being so defensive about the quality of his product. I have no connection to the developers of Recipe Bro. Also, I found two minor bugs when using Recipe Bro and they were very responsive, issuing a fix in less than one day. For a fraction of the price of Cook’n, the support was amazing.

  4. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Very MAGA Friendly. The app is great but I would not recommend any subscription services. Very right leaning views in their newsletter.

  5. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Deleted my recipes. I’ll never use this app again. I never used it very much but I did have two recipes in this app that I would access every now and then. One of them was pizza dough. I liked this app because I could scale the recipe up and down depending on how many people I was feeding. Well, I just opened this app, because I’m throwing a pizza party, only to find out Cook n’ went to a BS cloud subscription model, but, hey!, you can download your existing recipes locally for $4.99. Thanks for the ransomware, guys. Now my two recipes are gone. DONT USE THIS APP! The devs lack integrity.

  6. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

The WORST cookbook software. If you are looking to create a cookbook, this software is the actual WORST way to do it. After pouring hours of work into adding recipes, you're left with the ugliest choices of themes to format your book & out $100+ for the software.. not to mention the cost of the actual cookbooks. It is beyond frustrating to work with on the computer and the app. Cook'n, you caused multiple family fights & hours of frustration! Good riddance.

  7. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Worst app ever. I stored all my recipes in here for years and then one day it all erased and said if I wanted it it would charge me so I lost everything. Don’t ever get this app.

  8. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

No stars.. They changed the app and now my recipes are gone. All of them. Even my mother’s chili recipe. I can’t contact support unless I upgrade and pay to be a premium user. DO NOT PUT YOUR RECIPES ON HERE OR YOU RISK LOSING THEM!

  9. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Bait and Charge. Looks like a free app (in exchange for enduring ads). You get a month to add your recipe and become otherwise invested and then even the most basic functions require a monthly subscription fee on minimum of $5/month. Pretty deceptive and not appreciated.

  10. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

I loved it initially. The ads for a paid membership have become ridiculous. In the last year, every recipe I save, I have to sit through an at least 30 second ad begging me to buy a membership. An occasional ad would be ok. Today, as I was cooking, cocktails g, and vibing on ITunes, the obnoxious ads hit. Every touch of the IPad set off an ad telling me how great a monthly membership is - along with videos of the owner’s family ski vacations in the Alps or Aspen,or wherever it was. Funding other people’s’ family holidays has never been enough for me to buy a membership to a website. Since the bulk of my saved recipes come from another site, I’m more likely to just save and subscribe there. Overall, it wouldn’t be a bad website. They need to move beyond the over.y obnoxious hustling for subscriptions if they want to make it last and work. I myself, have lost patience with it… Developer response was bordline insulting. Won’t recommend. Deleting app immediately.

Be careful. 4.99 and it wants your phone number this app may sell your information

  12. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Lost all of my recipes. I got this app over a year ago. At the time I thought it was great! You can scan an old family recipe and it changes it to the correct format. You could also writes notes about how you came by the recipe. There was no charge. Perfect! I spent hours and hours entering my old recipes. I shared the app with my children and grandchildren. A week ago I opened the app to retrieve a recipe and discovered that all of my recipes had disappeared. I tried to contact customer service, but it is not available unless you subscribe for $60 a year.

  13. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Where did my recipes go????. I'd had this app installed for years, have been using it to hold my own recipes, to keep them "safe" on my phone Last update, wanted me to login to an account that I've never been requested to create before, and nothing was on my phone for recipes. I tried logging in every way I could possibly have done in the past, even though I knew I had not had previously. Everything was gone! In my opinion this is a crappy app!

  14. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Disappointing….Don’t bother!!! Your recipe’s will disappear. I’ve had this app for a couple years and had loaded and shared many of my personal recipes only to find they are all gone and if you’re not a premium paying member, they do not support you. Disappointing

  15. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Trying to contact them is impossible!. I have tried 4 times to cancel my subscription. I don’t remember authorizing them to charge me $149.50 for a year. The price is outrageous and too much for me to pay whether it be a one time payment and especially a yearly payment. I have not used this app in a long time except to try and remove all the recipes I had saved on it. ….. I apologize for being so negative. I was very frustrated. After finally finding help, the person that helped me was amazing! ….. I did enjoy the app when it did work for me. The price is just too much for me in the season of life we are in.

  16. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Live links?. This looks impressive, but all I’m looking for is a way to easily store and retrieve live web page links to recipes I’ve tried in numerous online recipe sites, preferably in an alphabetized list searchable by recipe/dish name. I tried storing one in the comments section of a newly added recipe, but it stores only as plain text, not an active link. Is this capability available here and I just haven’t discovered it? I began asking this question via their support option, but apparently they only reply to paid subscribers, and I’m certainly not going to subscribe to something before I determine that it fulfills my needs.

  17. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Not worth the time. App pushes to upgrade constantly (approx every other recipe you look at). Does not scan about half of the recipes found online. Monthly fee of either $4.99, $9.99, or $14.99 depending on what level you choose. Find an app that only charges a one time fee for unlimited recipes.

  18. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Disappointed. I read through the reviews. They say it’s free. Not really. You can download a few recipes from Pinterest and after that, nothing goes through. I am so disappointed. I thought I found something to share with my daughters. You can only do that if you are a member. I don’t want to pay for anything. I just want to share with my daughters. I guess I’m going to do it old school and write them down.

  19. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

App doesn’t work on iPad. Even with a premium membership, the app does not work without bugs. When I try to capture a recipe, I am given a screen that encourages me to sign up for a membership which I have done several weeks ago. So when I cancel the ad suggesting that I sign up for membership, then I am given a game Tristan to sign up for that I have no interest in having. I am very frustrated with the app and wish it could be fixed so it worked properly fixed.

  20. ★★★★data, history or progress disappears

Don't recommend. This app advertises it's free. I was stupid enough to type in all of my recipes and then get rid of them. All of a sudden, this doesn't work. Everything was gone. Six months later I now get an email they're going to delete everything unless I pay $5/month. Wish I never would have found this app.

  21. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Do not buy. I downloaded this app years ago. I clicked on the app and it says I need to subscribe. I was not able to access any of my recipes. It is free to download but you have to pay to do absolutely anything. There are physical cook books you can write in, and other apps that are actually free to use. The actual app was terrible the last time I used it.

  22. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Free is now less than useless. I have used this app for a long time. Years, in fact. I spent the money on the subscription for a year, and as far as I could tell - getting to upload more than 5 recipes per day (at the time) was the only real benefit to me. So, I dropped the subscription. I have told a number of friends and relatives about this app, because it seems to work just like I want it to. But, for some reason, when my friends and relatives sign up for an account now, they get video ads when searching for new recipes that last long enough that it is faster to not use that “discover” part of the app. They also cannot share their cookbooks with me even though I can share mine with them for some reason. The developer was onto something really good, but it seems he is more interested in responding with snide and petty comments to reviews over spending time developing a really good product with a useful subscription price point. It’s a shame. So much potential. I suppose if one doesn’t mind watching video commercials every time you are looking for a new recipe, and you never want to share your cookbook access with anyone else - including your spouse in your own home - this app could still be useful.

  23. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Ads Ads Ads. Looking for a new recipe app, downloaded this and could barely look at a recipe without multiple pop up ads. Uninstalled

  24. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Forced payments. I had been using this app for a long time without issue and really enjoyed keeping my recipes here. Then they changed how they work, and decided to switch to monthly subscription service. Without warning, I couldn’t even log in to see my existing recipes without erasing my data in favor of the cloud storage and signing up for a paid monthly subscription. The app isn’t advanced enough to be worth paying money every month - I already have recipe cards for free and easy reference.

  25. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Crashes and Annoying Ads. Update: Developer says it’s “impossible” that their app is crashing, so clearly I must be lying. Why would I lie about your app crashing? I have no skin in the game. I am a frustrated user who wanted to find a decent recipe organizer better than Pinterest. I was hoping to possibly recommend it to my team of volunteers who are compiling a community fundraiser cookbook. You made it quite clear that there was NO app support unless the user pays for a subscription. I went to your website to try to figure out a way to do so, even! And as for the sound issue, the issue is with the sound playing when the phone is in “silent mode”, not with the sound turned off. Maybe you should talk to the folks at Apple to figure out how to stop your ads from blaring when the phone is switched to silent. You know that little switch on the side that turns off the ringer? And while I’m not a developer, I do know that switching this off can silence ads in other apps, without turning the volume down to zero. I use a lot of apps that have ads that don’t have sound when I use silent mode. I’ve tested it! I have no problems watching a few ads to support a free app. I just don’t want the sound to suddenly blare when I’m next to my sleeping partner or child. There is no way I would ever sign up to pay for an app with a developer who responds in such an accusatory and rude manner. Downgrading to 1 out of 5 stars. App crashes constantly, even after several updates in the short time that I’ve been using. When it isn’t crashing, it interrupts periodically with annoying ads that use sound, even on silent mode (my partner trying to sleep next to me), that try to get you to sign up for a subscription. Why the heck would I sign up for a subscription when the app is constantly crashing during the short time (2 weeks) that I’ve been trying to use it. And stop annoying me to rate your app! Here’s your rating. I honestly kept hoping for the best, that you would fix whatever was making it crash, but it’s not to be.

  26. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

I paid for a yearly subscription. but I still hit a paywall when I want to save more than one recipe

  27. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

All my recipes are gone. I was so excited for this app because I was going to be able to catalog all my grandma’s handwritten recipes and store them for sharing with the family, as well as collecting recipes from different books and places to keep in one spot. I spent hours cataloging over 300 recipes, and when I got a new phone I went to log into the app and they are almost all gone. I’m beyond upset.

  28. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Took my money. I did the upgrade they took $53.00 for my subscription. But still can save 1 recipe a day not even the two they claim. Wrote into support nothing it’s been alimony a month. Should have stayed with another application. Disappointed in app and all reviews are a joke.

  29. ★★★★data, history or progress disappears

So not happy.... I just reinstalled this app on my new device and when I attempted to log in, I was prompted to either pay or wait until later. So by all means, erase my data🤨✌🏾️ My Response to the Developer reply: What you should've done before attempting to try to 'school me' in a petty fashion would've been to find out EXACTLY what happened. But your inept failure to do that shows me that spending that small amount would've been a horrible mistake as clearly your app doesn't deserve my patronage. Wishing you well!

Most frustrating app ever. We just downloaded this app to my fully functioning iPhone. My husband and I have spent over half an hour just trying to figure out how to enter a recipe. There is no way I can access help, directions, or anything encouraging me in regards to putting a recipe into this app. I am beyond frustrated and feel as an experienced user of Apps on my iPhone that I should warn others about the frustration in trying to use this. Good luck to all.
