Effective But Crude. Bought app to make it easier for shopping as a single elderly guy. Guess I “assumed” it would integrate with the grocery store shopping app already on my phone. It doesn’t. It’s nice but a technicality crude app that is reliant on everything web based and no compatibility with anything. “Support” is relatively good, but to be told it is incapable of doing what you bought it for should be stated in Apple Store’s App description. Cute useless app. More than a disappointment. This app has a very, Very Long way to go to be useful to me. I do wish them the best.

Problem. I have lost all my stores and lists. I still have the app. It happened suddenly. How do I restore them?
- ★★★★★privacy and excessive permissions
Shares with Amazon. They shared all of my information to Amazon. I pulled up my shopping list on Amazon to see all of my AnyList lists inside. How is that for privacy. Thank you for selling my information. Maybe they sent me a notification with an email to cover their tail but now Amazon has my lists—even random lists. Do. Not Use. Do Not Trust. Update: AnyList sent me a message telling me that it’s my fault that they shared with Amazon because I’ve been a faithful user of AnyList for too many years. That’s why I’ve cancelled.

You need to create an account to use. It’s a grocery list app. I was hoping to use to make shopping easier, I am very forgetful. It seems wholly unnecessary for every app now adays to require you to sign up, give them all your information. It’s a grocery list, it’s not that deep.
- ★★★★★login, signup and account access
Very pushy. I used the app before and I believe I created an account, I no longer needed the app so I deleted it. I wanted something for when I go shopping next and remembered this app. Can't remember the email I used so I selected to not create an account. If you do that on the homepage you are greeted to almost half the screen of them wanting you to create a free account. They say they respect your privacy but they sure are pushy in trying to get you to give them your email and information. I should mention there is no way that I found to delete this massive box. Just found out that if you do not create an account you cannot create a list. Something that is app based and no server is needed you aren't allowed to do unless you provide them your information.

Fix Alexa “tell AnyList”. The Alexa “tell AnyList” feature has been broken since March 2026. Please fix it ASAP! Thanks

Update Cheats You. Don’t buy this. I loved this when I first purchased AnyList last year, I loved it. I took the time to import my favorite recipes and built my own from YouTube videos. This year I had to resubscribe. I didn’t remember this, but ok. I loved the app…and then I go to import a new recipe and I find that I can’t. I have to upgrade if I want to keep importing recipes from the web. I just bought the new year and what good is it to me?!?!?!?!!! I don’t want to type in each recipe I want to save. This app is useless to me. Don’t buy it unless you intend to type in each recipe you want to save.

Deleting items?. I have been using this app for years, and I love it. When I have deleted items in the past, they have just disappeared automatically. But now it makes me go through a two layered process of crossing out and then deleting each item. I am happy to give this app five stars as soon as I figure out how I can fix this? Thanks

Shopping list. Use almost every day

Sharing Capabilities. The sharing capabilities don’t work very well. Often the person I send it to doesn’t get a link.

Stopped importing recipes. I really liked this app, and I even paid for it. I can’t get it to import from websites anymore, which was super handy. It’s been a minute since the function simply stopped working so I’m just copying my recipes by hand or into Notion before I delete the app. Edit: After posting this review, it mysteriously started working again. 🙄

No customer support!. I’ve actually been using this app (paid subscription) for YEARS. Until I got a new phone and could not get logged back in. I’ve used the same email address but the app kept saying could not locate that account. I reached out not once, not twice but 3 times via email with no response! After about a month of trying to get logged in ( because all of my recipes were saved there) I gave up. This is my last ditch effort to gain access to my account and get some sort of support!

Complex App & Sluggish Support. I tried to like this app, I really tried. But 3-4 weeks after paying the $15/year to share lists with my husband & get “prioritized support,” I still have no idea what I’m doing in the app (haven’t even shared with my husband yet since he knows even less about this stuff than I do), and the support is strictly via email only. By the time I get replies to my emailed questions, usually days later, I forgot what my questions even meant, and have even more questions. The powers-that-be need to hire people to chat online and take phone calls. I’m still at a stalemate, because I need someone to walk me through different topics in real time so that I can understand the moves and why. If you are tech-savvy enough to understand the filters and category sets, you’ll probably enjoy this app. As for me? I’m not there yet. Doubtful at this point whether I ever will be. Two stars. Maybe.

Ghosting?. I love how easy this app is manage and share. However I’ve been noticing that items mysteriously disappear from my grocery list between entering the item and actually shopping. At first I thought it was my error but I’ve actually entered an item while in a grocery store only to have it disappear. I feel I’m beginning to not trust the app. I see there’s just been a bug fix, hopefully this fixes this. If it continues I shall have to find an alternative. Just back from a large grocery shop and am missing at least one item that I KNOW I entered. And one that my husband said he entered.

Very good. This is a great app. I used to use a different app for grocery lists, but it got bought out by a bigger company and started getting real buggy. With AnyList, Syncing is flawless, customizable categories are handy, built-in recipe functions are cool although I haven't gotten around to using that feature too much. There are a couple details I would change or add, but they're so nitpicking I won't bother talking about them here. This is an easy five stars. However, I will say one thing; DEVS: STOP ASKING ME TO UPGRADE EVERY FIVE MINUTES. I GET IT. I KNOW THE ADDED FEATURES ALREADY. WHEN I CAN JUSTIFY IT I WILL BUY IT AND YOU ARE GETTING DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO GOING FROM FIVE STARS TO THREE. COME UP WITH A BETTER WAY TO PROMOTE THE UPGRADE. THANK YOU. Oh so I upgraded a few years ago. The paid features are nice but we don’t use all of them. Hey as long as it keeps them from selling out to clowns I guess it’s worth it. One downside is I think they might have farmed out their tier 1 to SEA because every time I try to request a feature of the most basic and self-explanatory kind, I get a response like “this sounds interesting but we need more information about your request. Can you please explain in more detail what you mean”? Which like, ok, but also I have a wife, kids, full time job, house and multiple startups. So. Figure it out guys.

Still No API. Maybe I don’t understand how difficult it is to do, but you still haven’t made any headway on API access. It doesn’t seem like you are innovating really. It just seems like you’re adding a little features here and there that people may or may not want. And ever since Amazon killed direct shopping list access, create a grocery list has gotten 50 times harder.

Alexa Integration. AnyList was better when the integration with Alexa was simpler. I used to be able to just say add this to my shopping list and Alexa would put it on AnyList instead of her own shopping list.

Could be great, but it’s missing things like priority (1-5 or some such, not just yes, no). I love the Alexa integration and it works very well... except for things like V8 which always comes out on the list as v eight. :-)

Add barcode scanner for pricing. This is a great app for planning meal and automatically adding the ingredients to your shopping list. The only downside is that I would like to be able to track my spending as I am going through the store by barcoding the prices to make sure I am staying within budget

Works Great!. This is a “must have” app.

One of the better apps. UPDATE 3/11/2026: After years of using “AnyList”, I have finally signed up for the paid version for $9.99 a year. Why? Because there are many items that are available at more than one store and I have to enter the same item for each different store on the free version. But now, hopefully I can enter the item once and it automatically fills in the appropriate slots for all the different stores where that item is available. Stay tuned! ORIGINAL REVIEW: All too many iPhone apps tend to be claptrapity. That is, they are often buggy when they really shouldn’t be in the first place, because the app developer either hires newbies fresh out of code writing Boot Camp or hire their kids to write the app in exchange for a trip to Disneyland, and it shows. What’s more, it usually takes forever before the app developer finally debugs it. But “AnyList” is an exception to that rule as I’ve had very little problem with it through the years.

Yes, it’s great. But. I would give 5 stars for the ability to add reminders / alarms. So think about how you’ve put a grocery list together at night. You go to bed, you had an awful sleep. Now, you’ve woke with a headache. You just want to get through it and get home. Well, moms know even so, you’ll have to stop at the store if that was needed. Being a bit under the weather maybe you don’t remember. An alarm now goes off maybe, 10 mins before you leave work. Night saved. Seriously. Please add reminders / alarms

Duplicate Deletions. I would have given this a 5 star rating except for the fact that there is no way to delete or even figure out how many duplicate recipes there are and delete them. Otherwise I do like the app and its other features

The only app I pay for!. I’ve been using AnyList for over a decade. It is truly the best grocery, meal planning, recipe keeper app option there is! I’ve shared this app with countless friends and they’ve all ended up loving it as well. It’s truly the only app I have ever paid for. So worth it!

It’s great. My family uses AnyList for groceries, birthdays and so much more! Now it can lag sometimes but everything does, the one thing I love about it is you can add notes and instructions to your items! Thanks AnyList!!

The Best App Ever!. I have used this app for years now and each upgrade only makes it better! Customer service is always great! My whole family loves AnyList!
- ★★★★★clear and easy workflow
Essential. I’ve used AnyList for years now and it is the most essential app in my grocery/cooking arsenal. The recipe import is fantastic, the lists are easy to use, and it has an Apple Watch app for when I’m in the grocery store. It’s a great one stop shop for all things meal prep and cooking.

Been Using for Years. AnyList has been incredible and I’ve used for many years with my spouse. Watch app is great, syncing is solid, and instacart integration is awesome. Highly recommend.

Easy to save recipes. I love AnyList! Even if I find a recipe I can’t download, I can copy & paste with Create.
