  1. ★★★★saving, exporting or sharing the result fails

Seven day free trial is not enough. Downloaded the app because I was told there was a free version. Only seven day free version which doesn't give you enough time even to get used to using the app. That's impossible. So disappointing.

  2. ★★★★gamification turns a 10-second action into a chore and pushes out the efficiency crowd

Frustrating advertising. I understand that app developers need to make money, but the fact that the free version prompts you at launch, when opening camera, after scanning, over and over and over is extremely frustrating. It also feels odd that the pop ups have cheaper pricing than when you hit upgrade in the settings menu, feels a bit bait and switch.

  3. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Ruined by Recent User Interface Update. I’ve been using this app for about 3 months. It previously had a simple interface that worked well. Unfortunately they recently pushed an update that turned out to be a big downgrade. One example: there’s now a calendar function on the home page that lets you review entries. It shows day/date but not month, so unless you’re scrolling back slowly and paying careful attention it’s easy to lose track of what month you’re looking at. Another example: there used to be a diary page that let you scroll through prior entries. They were in a chronological list, divided into breakfast/lunch/dinner/snack and each entry listed the food and number of calories. Now the diary just shows a big clump of gray rectangles, each representing a food entry. Each rectangle has a title like “chicken” but doesn’t show the calories for that entry. It’s amazingly useless. I think it was done because they want users to take a photo of every item eaten, and if that was done then the diary would show a big array of photos which would look cool (but still not be a useful way to review the information). Other issues: the AI function where you take a picture of your food and the app identifies the item and determines its weight is not reliable. Sometimes it’s amazingly accurate, but other times it gets the type of food wrong or it will misjudge the weight by a factor of two. Also, their food database contains a lot of errors. At least half the time that I scan a barcode I find that the information in SnapCalorie is different from that shown on the nutrition label. It’s often off just by 10 calories per serving, but you’d think that scanning a barcode should result in exact info with no discrepancy at all.

Garbage. They updated this app about a week ago and absolutely destroyed it. Interface is now garbage and the soul of the app (ai), doesn’t work. Salmon dinner at 0 calories? Slice of pizza is 89? Try anything else.

  5. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Terrible new update. It was a good app with the old legacy interface. New UI is clunky and slower; it takes much more taps to log a meal and to check fiber, cholesterol, etc. barcode scanner was also removed, why?? I’ve been using it for months but now I’m looking for alternatives. I hope they revert the changes.

  6. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

New update fail. New update today that doesn’t function at all. I have previously given this 5 stars but this update is not ready for prime time!

  7. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Avoid the half off offer.. This app purported accuracy but is actually inferior to other cheaper options once you opt for the 40 dollar offer. Please be advised that when you are declining membership during the trial, you will be offered a half price sale of 40. Do not fall for that because that is when you will notice a steep decline in accuracy. I’m not sure if this is due to it being processed through an outside server which may be the case since you have to purchase this via email rather than the Apple app store. I am not stating that as factual though, I may be wrong about the reason for the decline in accuracy after falling for the “flash sale”. Still, DO NOT fall for the half off ?scam. Go with another app if you want better accuracy that you would expect for this price.

  8. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Sad. So when I download it says trail Not free

  9. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Complete & total trash of an app. Charged me $20 for the app.. didn’t even work day 1 of the barcode scanner & recipes were absolutely trash same stuff just on repeat .. no customer help whatsoever!!!!! Complete and total fraud of an app

  10. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Shady Pricing. Check out their pricing strategy. It’s all over the place. Just now they try to get me to sign up for one price then offer 80% discount if I decline.

  11. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Redbird67. If I could give this zero stars, I would. First, it started my diary on December, 1969 at 7:00pm. There is an edit icon, but it wouldn’t actually hold any of the changes that I tried to make, kept going back to December, 1969. Next it scanned my food item wrong several times. Kept saying it was yogurt. Finding the delete wasn’t easy and when I finally did get it to delete, it took the information off, but left the picture. All of this in the very first item. I have cancelled my subscription and asked for a refund, but I don’t know if I’ll get it. It either has many bugs that need to be worked out it a better tutorial on hire to use it.

You Don’t Need My Life Story. Do you love the feelings of filling out forms in a medical office? If so you will love this app. If I have to spend 5 minutes manually inputting my data before I even try to use your app no thanks.

  13. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

sucks. I can’t even get passed the premium i keep pressing X but it keeps popping up discounts i just want to try it

  14. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

I can’t try it without it making me put the wrong birthday. I try and input my birthday day but when I get it set it won’t let me continue and I don’t know why

  15. ★★★★privacy and excessive permissions

Bug prevents usage. When adding my profile the app places a privacy screen over my weight, preventing me from setting it. Tried to correct it and the privacy bar is still there. Maybe the app works but this is a pain I’m not willing to endure to find out.

  16. ★★★★a needed feature is missing

“Add Missing Food Items” Barcode Scanning Option is Gone with Latest Update. Not sure if this was by design. Searching a food item by keyword does not always yield accurate results and I heavily relied on scanning barcodes for ingredients in a single meal. This is going to make tracking accurately significantly more difficult, as you’re essentially forcing us to scan ingredients as single meal items..I’m really hoping this is just a bug, but I’m really considering switching apps. Please add the barcode scanning feature to missing food items back!!!!

  17. ★★★★inaccurate results and incorrect data

Wildly inaccurate. It’s faster to just figure it out by looking the food up yourself. It’s not accurate from taking a photo of your food. It said my dinner was 300 calories when it was really 750.

  18. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Not budget friendly. Bruh u can’t even use it without paying for it ts dumb asf

  19. ★★★★trial charges and refunds

It’s a scam!. 7 days free trial and cancel any day but immediately charged my card. The first picture didn’t pick anything right!

  20. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Image doesn’t seem to matter. I took a photo of a fiber one, 70 cal soft baked cinnamon coffee cake bar. I got back just about anything else, and the one time I got back the right flavor (which took 4 tries) It said it was only 43 cal. I thought that was wrong, because it is, so I deleted the entry and scanned it again until I got the flavor, another 3 to 4 tries. This time it found the right flavor but listed at 57 cal. I don’t know what’s going on with their algorithm, but I don’t plan on trusting it with my health.

  21. ★★★★inaccurate results and incorrect data

Incorrect calorie count. I scanned packages to at I knew the calories on so I can determine how accurate it is, and it is not accurate at all

  22. ★★★★★search fails to find what is needed

Inaccurate, Cumbersome design takes too much time. Inaccurate - when it scans the bar code, identify the item and produce inaccurate results - it doesn’t let you correct the values on the fly. ( calories proteins carbs and fat). It’s much worse when the scan does not identify the item. In both cases you need to go to another tab and enter the item manually- frustrating and time burner. Same issue when describing the item - it does web search comes up with wrong results but doent let you correct it right there. Again you have to leave the page go elsewhere to enter manually from scratch. What a time waster.

  23. ★★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

UI. Change the UI like it was before!

  24. ★★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Data are wrong. The app is nice to use but so much of the data is wrong. you can rely on this to track and loss weight

  25. ★★★★★crashes, freezes and errors

Stopped working, there goes my streak. ;(. Never had problems with this app the past few months I’ve been using it but today for some reason, it will not accept any of my photos or descriptions. I guess my streak has finally come to an end. That kind of sucks.

  26. ★★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Find one better. I bought this after it was recommended. I’ve used it for about a month and have not got any consistent calorie or macros. I eat the same thing for breakfast every day, and the app varies its calories count, sometimes by more than 200 calories each time. It is fairly easy to use and the barcode scanner is great, the picture using AI sucks tho.

  27. ★★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

STAFF IRRESPONSIBILITY AND UNNEEDED ADS. The app works well and does what is supposed with little error. The only thing is when it does get ingredients wrong and the amount of nutrition within you have to flag it and a staff member will manually fix the problem. The only thing is I’ve submitted multiple errors and not one of them has been fixed. It has been over a week. Also everytime I use the app I’m bombarded with ads trying to get me to go premium. I can be on the app for 5 minutes and I’ll see the same ad to buy premium at least 3 times.

  28. ★★★★★data, history or progress disappears

Upgrade lost functionality. Works well but latest upgrade removed the barcode scanner in favor of a nutrition label scanner and it is significantly slower. Bring back the barcode scanner!!!!

  29. ★★★★★mixed experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Easy but not that accurate. It’s really easy to track your calories by taking a pic but it’s not really all that accurate and it cannot for the life of it see what foods are in a sandwich even tho it’s sticking out(it’s still my day one tho😛)

  30. ★★★★★mixed experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Seems great but….. Seems like a great app but when trying to enter my starting weight the box was all yellow and couldn’t see what weight was actually added until after submitting it. Tried to change it and again a yellow box but this time it won’t let me type.
