Just a money grab. You have to pay to really make any progress, and the premium plan cost is outrageous, even on the cheaper end. Kinda lame.

Poo. This app sucks

Why even try. I’ve been on this site multiple times and I’ve got a lot of dates and I’ve had long relationships but it seems like when things get hard. Nobody wants to sit down and try and talk and work things through. They just wanna give up.

Hinge > mutual. If you live in Utah, Mutual gets demolished by Hinge in every single way. Hinge has a better algorithm, better profiles, more serious users, and it lets you see every person who likes you. I get ten times the matches with ten percent of the effort on hinge. Mutual needs to up its game Mutual is theoretically useful if you live outside of Utah, but the user base is so small and unserious that in practice it’s a waste of time Mutual needs to make the app more useful for actually getting dates (for example, by allowing you to see the people who like you, limiting likes per day to a smaller number, forcing new users to make a quality profile, etc) if it wants to compete with the big dogs.
- ★★★★★locking “see who liked you” behind a paywall infuriates everyone
An app of desperation made to frustrate you into paying money. If the intent of the creators is solely to create a frustrating experience that will drive users either off the app or to pay them money, it works. Notes from a male user: They show your profile to an extremely limited number of people unless you pay a lot of money to “boost” your profile for just 24 hours. Of that small number of people most will be outside of your country, age range, or reasonable distance so you could never date them anyway, what’s the point? Even when you have people in your “liked you” section it can be a huge number of swipes before they actually appear for you in your queue, so again unless you pay their exorbitant prices to see the people who liked you you are stuck wasting your time swiping through people just to clear your “liked you” feed. This for the maybe 2 likes you get in a week which, again, aren’t actually within your vicinity or age range so you can’t actually date them. Edit: they have since improved this one feature to where you can see one person a day, and that one person is still 90% of the time from a foreign country. They are BEGGING at every turn for you to spend money on their product, which is fine, it’s a company, but given how much they charge and how they beg it gets ridiculous. You swipe down on somebody to say you don’t want to get to know them and it’ll go “you swiped down on X # of people who liked you this week, upgrade to avoid missing another match!” First of all, normally that X number is a lie as you won’t have even had that number of people on your “liked you” page all week. Secondly, I CHOSE TO SWIPE DOWN, that means I DON’T want to match with them regardless of if they want to match with me, why are you saying this at all?? In about two years of using this app I have gone on two dates from it. Most of the time the people you match with will have a short conversation with you and then give some excuse as to why they can’t go out any day of the week that ends in “day.” That’s not specifically a problem with this app, but when you combine it with how rarely you get a match in the first place it really becomes degrading and disrespectful of your time. This app truly makes no effort to actually be an LDS dating app rather than just another dating app re-skinned as an LDS app. It suffers from the same errors of other dating apps with their primary motivation being to convince you to give them money and their secondary motivation being to make you KEEP giving them money, so why would they actually want you to match with someone you want to date and therefore stop using the app? If you follow LDS teachings regarding businesses, like those in the Dec 2023 ensign issue “Making a living, making a life” by Lynn G. Robbins the people who make this app would fall into the C level with their sole motivator being money. Any appearance of quality or care for users in the app is the minimum amount they think they can get away with to make the maximum profit. If they could convince users to just give them money and never let them get any matches/dates at all, they would.

The men are mid. So I got this app thinking “Utah men” right? But no, to my disappointment all the men were red flags or just weird and chopped.

Should be called MyGhostingPenPal. This app is immensely ineffective at what it claims to be. It essentially copies and pastes other dating app models that are not designed for actual marriage or meaningful connection — the very things LDS singles would appreciate and want. Instead, it uses the same engagement-bait model that pushes you to scroll endlessly just to keep using the app. Even within the Mormon Corridor in the Mountain West, I have never found a meaningful connection here. What I get instead is a revolving door of pen pals for a few weeks at most, and then nothing. I am deleting my account entirely. The people who made this app should be ashamed of what they have built and should take it down themselves.

Mutual. Must of the people here are inactive members and some are not LDS. Which is funny!

Too pricey for membership.. For what the membership costs the benefits are not good. Also, the individuals on this dating app appear to simply want attention instead of actually desiring to go out on a date once matched. It’s very disappointing.

Crashed all the time. Never goes beyond the hour glass. Waiting waiting waiting waiting waiting waiting waiting waiting waiting

Pointless. I don’t like how my profile continues to be available to people who are outside of the United States, who are looking for green cards!! I have made a mutual account three different times and every time there have always been people outside of the United States who have been able to view and like my account!

Dating. It sucks because all the men on here are racist and homophobic

Can’t hide political preference. They changed the political preference from a slide bar (which was better than how any other dating app does it) and made us put ourselves into a box instead. And now we can’t hide that political box even though we can hide church attendance, temple recommend, excercise and other preferences. Why are we forced to show our political preference on our profile? They do give us the awkward option of “get to know me first instead” but no one wants to put that lol. And what is more annoying is a bunch of people with older versions of the app DO have their political preferences hidden. Something the rest of us can’t do.

Idea is okay, software is terrible. I like the idea of having a church-centered dating app but the software needs a rehaul. Cropping photos doesn’t work and the overall responsiveness is lack luster. It feels like a student project. Use native or flutter or something

Mutual sucks. They limit who you can text unless you buy premium EVEN BLOCKING those who sent you notes unless you pay. I do not think anyone should pay for mutual premium or use this service.

Expensive, might be useful if you live out west. Expensive for what it offers. Never been ghosted so much. If you live out west maybe it’s good, but living in the south east it’s trash. Filter options could be better. If you’re in the states be prepared to be overwhelmed by accounts outside of the country from many people who don’t speak your language.

“LDS”.. sure… 🙄. I swear over 80% of people are not temple worthy and most of the guys have been ‘working on it’ for yeaaaars. No, you’re not. I am so sick of there only being trash guys out there. Step up men. You hold the priesthood and have made pretty serious covenants in the temple. How about you take them seriously? This app is for inactive and complacent members.

Need better verification. I have encountered fake accounts that are “blue checked” verified by showing a few selfies. These probably could easily be fake by finding a selfies on the real account. It happens all the time. They need a different better verification method. One of their staff members also told me this messed up rule where even if you are on their paid subscription they do not put you as priority if you are not using the app enough even if you send notes and boosts. So if you are someone like me who pays but does not have enough time to be on it very much because of graduate school, work, and exercise/diet they do not put you on priority. Very money driven app that doesnt care about their users finding someone

Limited and Need App Updates ASAP. I don’t appreciate that I can’t filter out by language and I keep getting profiles from other countries 🙄

Like all other apps. This dating is one of the worst. Pay to see ppl that liked ur profile, ridiculous, withhold ppl in ur area to keep u paying,,,,it’s all the same apps cuz the ppl working this app have to get paid right

Mutal Premium. The premium is way too expensive and without it it’s way harder to match with people

Endless Spinning cost me a date!. I was in the process of setting a couple dates up and hadn’t yet made the jump to phone number. I can see the notification but the app will not open, instead just endlessly loading. I deleted and reinstalled, restarted my device, all to no avail. Now this woman will think I ghosted her and I don’t have a date! Thanks a lot.

App Stops Working About Once Every Month. I don’t understand what is going on with this app, but I find it really unreliable. It will work just fine for a period of time, and then without warning, about once a month, it will give me the never-ending spinning circle and nothing will load for several days. I’m over it. I’m wishing I hadn’t paid for six months.

Not worth it. 95% of the time you get ghosted.

Just awful (a profit model to prey on LDS faith). The worst thing of all about this app, is the company who created it see LDS marriages and temples as a profit model, which is disgusting and such a disgrace. Something this sacred is just money for these people. The odds are against you, with all their manufactured and rigged algorithms in the app, you will never find anyone. Plus a lot of inconsistent, weird, and false data. They are like Twitter. Buggy app, awful and inconsiderate group of people (I don’t believe they are LDS), and mysterious chat and match disappearances, which I believe is on purpose to keep me on the app and do infinite swiping. 2 years of my life gone. I’m not wasting anymore. I already pay for premium features, and I have to pay $7-8 dollars to “boost” my profile? Why is that not included with my premium subscription!? An insidious profit model, as most dating apps are, and this junk is no different, just an immoral Tinder with an LDS theme. If Mutual really wanted to help you find someone, they would do a interests/personality quiz (like eHarmony), which is much more effective, but no, an infinite swipe profit model (your “soulmate” is just around corner, keep swiping, but there never will be. The randomness and statistics are against you, so don’t bother). Since more and more people rely on dating apps, especially younger people, they will take all these doctored algorithms seriously as a reflection of themselves. You are valued by the Lord, don’t believe the app. These insidious algorithms are not good for people’s mental health, and who knows what damage and emotional abuse they have inflicted on people through this app. I hope there is a special place in hell for this app.

Waste of Time. App use to be fun to use. Now they charge 20 bucks a week to use. Who knows what other methods they’re using to milk money out of church members. They’re preying on people looking for love.
